Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing Statement

Stake is currently operated by Medium Rare N.V. and is licensed by the Curacao Gaming Authority under licence number OGL/2024/1451/0918. We offer our services in 169+ countries worldwide.

The main purpose of the Stake in website is to provide players with a platform for gambling and betting. Any illegal activity will be stopped, and the information will be forwarded to the authorities to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.

Company Policy Statement

Stake is not currently a financial institution and is therefore not subject to the laws that apply to such organisations. However, in accordance with the 2016 Regulations on Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT), we are opposed to terrorist financing and money laundering. We monitor changes in legislation and will take action against such activities.

One of our main goals is to prevent the use of Stake platforms for illegal activities. To this end, we employ a number of practices:

  • We actively implement procedures, mechanisms, and control procedures to track suspicious transactions;
  • In some cases, a responsible person is appointed to ensure compliance with all the rules of our site;
  • Additional independent checks and monitoring of transactions are carried out.

Governance and Oversight

To comply with all AML and anti-financial terrorism regulations, we have appointed a dedicated specialist. Their main task is to supervise, verify player accounts, and develop AML initiatives. This Stake specialist also monitors compliance with current legislation on terrorist financing and AML.

Know Your Customer

Our Stake website has its own system for verifying the reliability of customers. It assesses the player and the potential risks associated with them. It is precisely for this analysis that we collect certain documentation and carry out checks. In order to complete the CSS procedure, players must undergo the CIP identification programme, which includes the following:

  • Collection of basic data when a player creates an account on the Stake website;
  • Risk assessment based on the crypto wallet used by the customer;
  • Checking the user against lists of suspected terrorists or terrorist organisations provided by government agencies.

In order to ensure that the above steps are carried out, we take the following measures:

  • We will request documentation from the customer to confirm their age and address. After that, the customer’s country of residence will be checked to see if gambling and betting are permitted there. We will also check sanctions lists to see if the user is on them;
  • We collect data about the customer during the period they use our services. Such data may include wallet address, name, address, country, date of birth or postcode;
  • We do not provide services in countries where gambling and betting are prohibited, so you will not be able to register an account while in one of these regions;
  • If desired, we may also request documentary evidence from the customer that they are not on the watch lists of the United States, the European Union or other countries.

Please note that Stake may, at its sole discretion, refuse to provide its services to any individual at any time. If the platform’s terms and conditions have not been violated, you will be able to withdraw the money from your account balance.

Our real-time monitoring system detects suspicious transactions. If detected, the customer will need to undergo an account verification procedure. It includes confirmation of the following data:

  • Full name of the individual;
  • Citizenship;
  • Permanent address of residence;
  • Passport number or any other official document that can be considered proof of identity;
  • Sources of funds used to consume Stake services.

If any of the data proves to be false, forged or outdated, we have the right to block the account of such a customer.

Transactions Monitoring

To detect money laundering and terrorist financing in a timely manner, Stake uses manual and automated monitoring on its platforms. Learn how we track suspicious transactions below:

  • Our systems automatically stop suspicious withdrawal requests. Stake agents also do the same if they find such transactions. In this case, a customer verification process is initiated. Players can challenge any block by contacting technical support;
  • Our systems constantly monitor the size, volume, and nature of transfers on the Stake website. All data received is included in special reports;
  • All transactions are verified by Chainalysis to rule out the possibility of fraud and crime. We may prohibit a player from withdrawing money to a specific address. Other payment systems will remain available in this case;
  • If a player does not agree to KYC verification, their account will be frozen until it is completed. Withdrawals are only available to verified customers.

Education and Training

In order to support its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing policy, Stake may hold conferences, training sessions and meetings on these topics.

Reporting

In accordance with current legislation, the Stake website is obliged to report all suspicious transactions that may be related to money laundering or terrorist financing to the relevant state authorities.
